If a properties value increases or decreases more than $1,000 in
value South Carolina Law requires the Assessor to notify
property owner of new appraised value. This notice is an example
of the notice sent to the property owner. The owner should pay
close attention to the Address, TMS #, Assessment Ratio, and
Market Value. If any are wrong please contact the Assessors
Office by completing, detaching and mailing the bottom portion of
the notice.
This document is an example of how to calculate an estimate of
your taxes. During a Reassessment year the millage rate is rolled
back because the tax base has increased. By law no taxing
authority can increase revenue more than the Consumer Price
Index (CPI) because of reassessment without a special called
meeting. The millage rate is not set until late the fall.
