The mission of the Human Resource Department is to enhance the current and future organizational effectiveness of Dorchester County Government by increasing employees’ abilities to maximize performance. To develop and maintain a capable workforce with the skills needed for effective job performance. We are committed to supporting the continued growth and development of Dorchester County most valuable resource, its people.

The Human Resource department carries out this mission by:

• Cultivating Dorchester County Government’s workforce and enhancing organizational culture through professional development programs;
• Promoting diversity to protect individuals from discrimination and harassment;
• Assisting individuals in developing their interpersonal and managerial skills;
• Responding to conflict issues within the County’s work units to facilitate performance management, foster team unity and productivity;
• Improving the quality of work life and job satisfaction for employees;
