Reporting Damage
If Dorchester County receives damage from a hurricane or other causes you may be asked to call and report physical damage to your home or business. If the County asks for damage reports phone numbers will be given to call. If asked to call please leave your name, street address, phone number and a brief description of the damage.
Damage Assessment data is used to determine whether the county may qualify for Federal Disaster Assistance. There may be times when that assessment and decision process takes several days.
Do not call 911 to report downed power lines, damage or other non-life-threatening situations during disaster operations. Please keep the 911 lines and our communicators available for true emergencies.
