It is our goal in Dorchester County to be ever-mindful of the needs of our community and to serve our citizens and other customers with the highest degree of professionalism, courtesy and resourcefulness. Within the Building Department, our mission is to ensure the protection of life, health and property which we regard as a solemn responsiblity.
The Building Services Department is responsible for the issuing of building permits both residential and commercial , new construction and renovations. We also conduct field inspections throughout the construction process to verify code compliance. Our office is located in the Human Services Building at 500 N. Main Street, Summerville, SC. Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Inspections can be requested by calling 843-832-0011. If you are requesting a next day inspection, you must call before 3:00 pm the business day prior to the date requested.
