The purpose of the class is to assist the Director Budget & Finance in planning, implementing and coordinating internal controls and internal auditing procedures, to perform a variety of complex accounting and finance functions involved in auditing and maintaining the fiscal records and systems of the County, and to perform related duties as assigned. This class plans, organizes and implements programs (fixed assets, project accounting, etc) within major organizational policies, reporting program progress to executive-level administration through reports and conferences
ESSENTIAL TASKS
The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Development and oversight of internal control and financial policies and procedures.
Implements policies and procedures to insure oversight and accountability of county assets such as fixed asset inventory system.
Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy; offers training, advice and assistance as necessary.
Assists in the preparation of the department’s annual budget and annual audit of the county records related to internal controls and oversight of assets and capital projects
Performs special audits and other projects as needed.
Assists in making recommendations and implementing department policies and procedures.
Prepares periodic and special records, reports, forms and other documents as required by the County and other agencies.
Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints and requests for assistance from County personnel, elected officials and citizens regarding areas of responsibility. INTERNAL AUDITOR BUDGET & FINANCE DEPARTMENT
Performs general administrative / clerical work as required, including but not limited to typing reports and correspondence, establishing and maintaining files, scheduling appointments and meetings, making travel arrangements for supervisor and staff, copying and filing documents, sending and receiving faxes, answering the telephone, processing mail, etc.
Attends training, meetings, seminars, etc., as required to enhance job knowledge and skills.
