Delinquent Tax Collector: Sidney B. Jones III

Under the leadership of Mr. Sidney B. Jones III, the Delinquent Tax office investigates and collects delinquent real property taxes, penalties and levy costs; finds and notifies taxpayers of taxes owed; seizes property for non-payment, in accordance with S.C. Code of Laws, Title 12, and maintains an accurate up-to-date account of monies collected.

The Delinquent Tax Office also plans, conducts, and manages the annual real property tax sale.

Note: Once a property tax bill is deemed delinquent (after March 15th of each year), the County Treasurer sends the bill to the delinquent Tax Collector for collection.

Accept payments for non-delinquent tax bills (See Treasurer)

Accept payment by credit card at this time

Revise tax bills (See Auditor)

Determine values on real property (See Assessor)

Determine values on personal property (See Auditor)

Provide information on taxes due in other counties

Important Information & Documents

The Dorchester County Delinquent Tax Sale is held in the fall of each year.

The 2017 Delinquent Tax Sale will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017, at the Kenneth Waggoner Services Building located at 201 Johnston Street, St. George, SC 29477.  The sale will begin promptly at 10:00 AM.

Bidders may begin registering to bid, no earlier than, one week prior to the sale in the Delinquent Tax Collector's Office, or the day of the sale from 9:00 - 10:00 AM, in County Council Chambers. There will be no bidder registration after the sale has begun.

Payment must be made in full via cash, cashier’s check, or money order. Personal checks, debit cards and/or credit cards are not accepted forms of payment, by this office.
